About the Jigsaw Appeal
Present: The Jigsaw Appeal for Women (2010 to 2012 Appeal)
The Jigsaw Appeal is the name of the principal fundraising appeal at the Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospitals.
The new Appeal will raise funds to transform the Women’s Health Unit (WHU). The unit boasts full marks by many professional benchmarks in a wide number of disciplines and needs only money (£1.5 m of it!) to redesign and fully upgrade.
Both breast and gynaecological services are offered, including hysteroscopy, colposcopy, early pregnancy, rapid diagnostic breast cancer services offering first class screening with well above average pick up rates.

Past: The History of the Jigsaw Appeal
The Royal Bournemouth Hospital Jigsaw Appeal was first launched in June 2003. The target of £2.5 million was needed to provide five additional life-saving scanners for the hospital's Radiology Department.
This appeal was successfully concluded in July 2006 and resulted in the quality of scans improving immeasurably and waiting times for routine scans dramatically reduced to a matter of weeks.
On 1 November 2006, Jigsaw Cancer and Blood Disorders Appeal was launched with the aim of raising £2 million to transform the facilities for the Haematology and Oncology Unit at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The appeal successfully concluded in October 2009 with the Appeal reaching its £2 million target. The safe and "ring fenced" funds will be applied to the project as soon as the architect’s plans are approved following a "future proofed" review of needs in the haematology and oncology departments.
